He earned his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and pursued further specialization through fellowships in cardiology at the University of California, Irvine, and interventional cardiology at the University of Chicago. Originally hailing from North Carolina, Dr. Patel’s academic journey began with a degree in biology and philosophy in religion, which he earned Summa Cum Laude from East Carolina University. Following medical school, he completed his internal medicine residency at Kaiser in San Francisco. Dr. Patel’s expertise lies in complex cardiac procedures, particularly structural heart interventions. He played a pivotal role in initiating transcatheter mitral valve repair in Kern County, contributing to the establishment of a successful, high-volume program with outstanding outcomes.
